Mason Mount’s father posts four-word message after Tammy Abraham leaves Chelsea
Tammy Abraham completed a permanent move away from Chelsea on Tuesday, which prompted a heartfelt four-word message from Mason Mount’s father, Tony.
Abraham ended his long association with the Blues today by officially joining Italian Serie A club Roma.
The 23-year-old centre-forward worked his way up the Chelsea youth system before become a first-team player. He scored 30 goals in 82 senior games for the London giants.
However, he’s now taking the next step in his career to try start regularly for Roma.
New signing Romelu Lukaku, along with the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, have blocked his path at Samford Bridge.
Tony Mount has said on Twitter that Abraham “will be really missed” following his Chelsea exit.
The outside perception for many years is that Chelsea don’t give academy players a chance, but that’s not the case.
Abraham did a great job as a member of the Blues first team for a couple of years. However, he’s moved on now to seek a new challenge in Rome.
Mason Mount and Reece James, along with Trevoh Chalobah more recently, are all academy graduates still in the main Chelsea group.
The level of players being produced at Cobham means they won’t all be able to end up having long careers at the Bridge, but the academy can be extremely proud of the work they are doing year on year.
