Tuchel leaves Stamford Bridge after 20 months in charge

Tuchel leaves Stamford Bridge after 20 months in command after guiding the team to a Champions League victory and two cup final appearances in the previous campaign.

After losing two of their first six Premier League games this season, they suffered a humiliating 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in their inaugural Champions League group encounter on Tuesday night.

United had a rocky start to the season after suffering defeats to Brighton and Brentford, but they have now won four straight games as Van Hag attempts to stabilize the team following a disastrous 2021–22 campaign.
Reacting to news of Tuchel’s sacking at a press conference ahead of United’s Europa League clash against Real Sociedad, ten Hag said: ‘I feel sorry but there’s nothing I can say about that. It’s Chelsea not Manchester United.’

Asked if he was surprised by the decision, the Dutchman added: It’s early in the season, yeah.’

Tuchel becomes the second Premier League manager to be sacked with Scott Parker leaving Bournemouth following a 9-0 defeat at Liverpool in August.

'On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, the Club would like to express on record its gratitude to Thomas and his colleagues for all their efforts throughout their time with the Club,' read a statement released by Chelsea on Wednesday morning.

Thomas, who won the Champions League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup during his time at Chelsea, will rightfully have a place in the club's history.

"The new ownership group believes that now is the appropriate moment to make this transition as it has been 100 days since taking over the Club and as it continues to work hard to move the club forward.
