N’Golo Kante is ‘unwilling’ to accept Chelsea’s current contract offer with the club so far unable to agree new terms with the midfielder.
A number of teams throughout Europe are keeping an eye on Kante's status at Stamford Bridge as he enters the final year of his contract with the west Londoners and will be free to talk with other clubs in January.
The France international has been in talks with Chelsea about a new contract, but according to The Athletic, Kante is not interested in the club's current offer of a two-year extension with an additional year's option.
The 31-year-old wants a longer-term contract, but Chelsea is hesitant considering the midfielder's fitness difficulties over the past two seasons.
However, Kante will mention that Kalidou Koulibaly (32) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (33) received lengthy contracts this summer.
Chelsea want to keep the midfielder and Kante remains happy in west London, where he is willing to end his career, and discussions are ongoing as the two parties look to reach a compromise.
There will be no shortage of suitors should an agreement not be reached however, with two clubs in England, alongside teams from Spain, Germany and France keeping tabs on his situation.
