Chelsea on Wednesday confirmed Thomas Tuchel’s sack at the club.
While it has been speculated that Tuchel's dismissal was due to his performance, particularly following their 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UCL, a report from CBS said that it was more likely due to his standing with the club's management.
According to the report, the Blues' new co-owner Todd Boehly was dissatisfied with Tuchel's lack of assistance in persuading players to sign with Chelsea this summer, which is why they missed out on important signings like Raphinha and Jules Kounde, who later joined Spanish club Barcelona despite having transfer agreements with Chelsea from their respective clubs.
The Chelsea management believed Tuchel ought to have sold the team to the two players in order to convince them to move to the West London side, the way Xavi had done for the Catalans.
In another report, the Blues have named a new manager in the person of Graham Potter, Brighton’s former manager.
