Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will need to break a bad trend after selecting his new shirt number at Stamford Bridge
Aubameyang's choice of shirt number is a controversial one though, taking over a number that has a plagued past at Stamford Bridge. The 33-year-old will be the club's newest No.9, taking over from Romelu Lukaku after he left he club on a season-long loan deal earlier this summer.
Tammy Abraham, who has a track record of failure with those who have worn the legendary top, was the next most successful player to don it before Lukaku. Steve Sidwell, Franco Di Santo, Fernando Torres, Radamel Falcao, Alvaro Morata, and Khalid Boulahrouz are also on the list of those who have worn the shirt.
In the 2010–11 season with Saint–Etienne and the season before that for Dijon, Aubameyang wore the No. 9 jersey. Throughout his brief reign at Barcelona he was No.17 - currently occupied by Raheem Sterling - whilst he was No.14 at Arsenal, No.17 at Dortmund and No.7 for most of his time at St Etienne.
Chelsea fans and Tuchel will now be hoping he can overcome the so-called curse that comes with the top.
