Chelsea fans saw glimpses of the brilliance from Wesley Fofana in the 2-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League.

Three days after joining the Blues from Leicester City, the France Under-21 star saw play and made an impact as Chelsea rallied to defeat West Ham in the Premier League.

Chelsea called on their summer record signing to provide them with the defensive foundation they required as they sought to immediately resume winning ways following the teenage defender's £70 million transfer from the Foxes in midweek.

The Blues had trouble finding opportunities in the first half, but their defense held up well until Michail Antonio scored the opening goal for the Hammers in the second.

Ben Chilwell, a Chelsea substitute, brought the score even before Kai Havertz gave Chelsea the victory.

West Ham believed they   had the equaliser when Maxwel Cornet finished off brilliantly but VAR intervened controversially to rule out the goal and Chelsea held on for all three points.

The Blues might not have kept a clean sheet, but the balance Fofana’s presence gave them was encouraging and rarely did he put a foot wrong throughout the game.

Another positive from having Fofana was that it allowed Thomas Tuchel to play Reece James as a right wing-back, something they have not been able to do often this season.
