Aubameyang is expected to join Chelsea

According to 90min, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is en route to London to get a medical with Chelsea as the Blues get closer to signing a contract with Barcelona.

The Gabon striker has been the subject of discussions for several weeks, and Chelsea has long been confident in their ability to close a deal. However, there is now a race against time to reach a deal with Barcelona before the deadline on Thursday night.

Sources have confirmed to 90min that talks are now focused on a swap deal involving left-back Marcos Alonso, who has been in a personal terms agreement with Barcelona for months. Discussions had previously been focused on a straight-cash trade for Aubameyang.

For Aubameyang, a bid of £10m plus Alonso is now being considered by both parties.

 Now believe a deal is close to being completed.

Barcelona had hoped for a bigger sum but are increasingly keen to get the striker's salary off the books as part of their ongoing attempts to address their financial woes and are now expected to agree to Chelsea's proposal, particularly as they are very keen to bring in Alonso as well.
