The Blues are reportedly willing to go beyond £80m.
After having their original £60 million proposal for Wesley Fofana, a 21-year-old defender for Leicester, rejected, Chelsea are considering making a record-breaking offer, according to the Daily Mail. According to the newspaper, the Blues are prepared to pay more than £80 million, which was the record price paid for a defender in 2019 when Leicester sold Harry Maguire to Manchester United.
What the newspapers claim
The 33-year-old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Barcelona, whose team is apparently willing to let him leave, is also a target for Thomas Tuchel, according to The Mirror.
In the meantime, the Mirror reports that Manchester United would withdraw from a negotiation with Chelsea over 25-year-old Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Due to a dispute over unpaid pay at Barcelona and ongoing interest from other teams, hopes for a move to Old Trafford appear to have diminished.
And Tottenham are close to securing 19-year-old Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie for £21m, according to the Telegraph. The youngster would be the side’s seventh signing this summer.
Maxwell Cornet players to keep an eye on: According to The Mail, the 25-year-old Burnley winger will undergo a medical at West Ham.
Lucas Torreira: According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old midfielder for Arsenal has decided to sign with Galatasaray.
