Chelsea star sold this summer because Tuchel was unconvinced by him in training

Thomas Tuchel reportedly did not see enough of Tammy Abraham in the confines of Cobham to warrant his place in the Chelsea squad.

This is according to The Times, who claim the Blues boss was uninspired by Abraham’s efforts in training.

The 23-year-old finally departed his boyhood club after months of debate and questions over his future.

He eventually decided upon joining Roma, one of several sides that were interested in his services.

It ends 15 years of loving commitment to Chelsea, which admittedly had begun to turn sour, primarily after the new manager’s arrival in January.

Tuchel and the striker have endured a frosty relationship ever since the former strode through Stamford Bridge’s gates earlier this year.

Abraham was one of the leading figures in Frank Lampard’s youthful revolution, but he hardly played any part in the German’s overhaul.

You’d have to cast your minds back to February for the centre-forward’s last competitive start in any competition.

In that period, he’s played just 17 minutes of Premier League football.

Evidently, the player and coach were simply not on the same wavelength.

If the Times are to be believed, then Abraham’s approaches in training have ultimately led to his Roma transfer.

As a stickler for commitment and effort, anyone viewed not to be pulling their weight will be frowned upon by Tuchel.

With the former England international now out of Chelsea’s picture, they can focus on getting Romelu Lukaku up to speed before the next league game away to Arsenal.
